Decemberists Frontman Pens Children's Book

. (Gibson) Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy has shifted from writing fantastical songs for indie rock fans to spinning yarns for young readers. His first-ever children's book, Wildwood, is set to come out on August 30 and was illustrated by his wife, Carson Ellis, according to Rolling Stone.

The story deals with a young girl who has to rescue her brother from a murder of crows. The book takes place in "a world full of warring creatures, peaceable mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions," reports The Decemberists' website.

Curious readers can get a preview of the book's first four chapters on its Facebook page. In addition, Meloy has selected an iTunes playlist/soundtrack for the book, including "Ramble On" and "Over the Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin. more on this story
