Lady Gaga Confirmed For MTV Global Japan Relief Event
. Lady Gaga is the first performer to be announced for the MTV Video Music Aid Japan, the tenth annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ) which is being staged as a live international music television event to benefit the Japanese Red Cross. Hosted by Japanese pop star AKB48 and featuring live performances from international, regional and Japanese artists, the staging of MTV Video Music Aid Japan will be the culmination of MTV Japan's Music Of Hope campaign, the channel's multiplatform response to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. MTV Video Music Aid Japan will be broadcast live from Makuhari Messe on Saturday, June 25 to more than 30 million homes on MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV China and MTV Southeast Asia. A special one-hour version of MTV Video Music Aid Japan will air on MTV channels worldwide to over 550 million homes as an installment of MTV's weekly live music series, MTV WORLD STAGE. Additional performers and celebrity attendees will be announced shortly.
