Steven Tyler and J.Lo Confirmed As Judges for American Idol

. (Gibson) It's official: Steven Tyler will be a judge on the next season of American Idol. The rumors that have been circulating for months about the Aerosmith frontman and the network TV singing contest were confirmed by host Ryan Seacrest today, according to CNN.com.

Tyler and fellow new judge Jennifer Lopez will join Randy Jackson, who's been with the series for each of its nine seasons. Music industry exec Jimmy Iovine also is being added to the show as a mentor to the contestants.

"I want to bring some rock to this roller coaster," Tyler said, after jumping onstage at the Los Angeles Forum.
