Post School of Rock Venture

We received this announcement about the new venture from the founder of the "School of Rock":

Paul Green wants to save rock & roll. Again. When Green, the founder of the School of Rock, began giving lessons in his living room in 1996, most music instruction was a solitary pursuit relegated to the back of the guitar shop. Today, because of his influence, group/performance-based instruction is the standard. In the intervening years, Green has served as inspiration for a feature film ('School of Rock'), a documentary ('Rock School'), a magazine, several School of Rock tours and more.

Studio House is Green's most audacious endeavor yet. He has long believed that the best music - his favorite music - was created in communal environments free of deadline, budgetary, or industry pressures. Green has created such an environment with Studio House, a facility where established and developing artists can record free of charge while students observe and contribute to the process.

Green has assembled a powerhouse team of music industry professionals to operate Studio House: Dolce Group's financial wunderkind David Jarrett (CEO), "leading progressive rock genius of the post-Zappa era" (All Music Guide) Mike Keneally (Musical Director), entertainment marketing and promotion veteran Shanon Chaiken (COO), world famous rock photographer Myriam Santos (Creative Director) and Strokes manager/Wiz Kid Management CEO Ryan Gentles (Music Business Consultant).

Since October 2009, Studio House has been operating a pilot program with fourteen students ages 18 - 25 on a campus in rural New York. A number of music luminaries have already visited and recorded at Studio House including Yes's Jon Anderson, acclaimed producer Tony Visconti, Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), John Ashton (Psychedelic Furs), Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon's Graceland), Marco Benevento (Jazz Farmers), Grammy-Award winner Neil Citron, Gail Ann Dorsey of David Bowie's band, Joe Russo (Phil Lesh & Bob Weir's band Further) and members of Ween, Bad Brains, Betty, and more. All of these artists have contributed to the constantly evolving curriculum at Studio House.

Studio House is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2011.
