(Gibson) On this day in 2006, the Duran Duran fan club issued the following statement on guitarist Andy Taylor quitting the band for a second time.

"The four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together," read the letter, signed "Simon, John, Nick and Roger."

It was the second time the Duran Duran guitarist had split from Simon Le Bon and Co. Taylor, who played guitar on the band's first three studio albums in the '80s, originally left Duran Duran after the release of 1986's Notorious. He rejoined the group in 2001, following a spell with '80s supergroup Power Station. - more on this story
