Singled Out Atheist Week: Final Day
. Fictitious Glide- This song from the start to the finish is one of my favorites, because it just has a vibe to it that none of the others have, and it gives off a sense of panic to my ears, and I love that. The guitar part came to me at practice while in front of the other guys, we all worked on this one together at the ass end of the writing for Jupiter. It was the last song we wrote, and the most spontaneous of the bunch. To some extent on my behalf anyway, it was musically inspired by the particular weed I was smoking with Baker on this fine day :) The middle breakdown section between bass, and guitars is sick!!! The lyrics to this one have a deep meaning for me, they deal with my perception of how certain people seem to roll through life without repercussions it seems, and my experience in becoming a new father, and then becoming a single father, were the inspiration for this lyrically. It contains some lines in it that resonate with me, and I am happy to get them out of me and into song. Its the first time I have allowed my personal life to be involved directly with an Atheist tune And the end of the song is just bombastic! The drums are just insanity, as is the case with every single song on Jupiter, Steve Flynn has delivered a performance that I could not have dreamed he would pull off, I am just glad he is my drummer!!! Fictitious Glide will be an ass kicker live for sure! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
