Leslie Loh Sets US Release
. A superwoman of sorts who is fully versed in martial arts, trained alongside US Navy Seals, Marines and S.W.A.T. teams, and joined the UK National String Academy as 1st violinist, Loh showcases her extreme discipline and exhaustive focus on the new album. Music Week (UK) raves "[Loh's] powerful ballads and soulful rock tracks are dripping with raw emotion." The album's first single, "Prey", charges forward with a blazing electric guitar line reminiscent of Evanescence, and represents Loh's shift away from the R&B tone of her debut, to the soul-rock sound of "Metomothosis." Loh says of the progression, "For those who know me, it's a departure from my past single, "Satisfied", which has a more R&B flavour. Even though I enjoyed that phase immensely, I jumped at the chance to pen an album straight from my heart." Another of the album's standout tracks, "This is Me," is a power ballad that combines the full range of Loh's musical talents in sweeping and cinematic textures. The sound, as described by Loh in her usual eloquence, is "a mix of sultry, sweet but dark textures as I combine the edginess of rock with the fragility of my voice emoted through the sympathetic use of the keyboards and violin." Loh began studying ballet at age 2 and piano, violin and singing at age 3. She went on to earn the highest marks from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music and the Royal Academy of Dance in Hong Kong, and conducted the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Now an accomplished pianist, outstanding violinist, trained dancer, seasoned actress and economics graduate, Loh combines all of her business and music talents as founder of Nymphaea Entertainment, which has its own record company and feature films production divisions.
