Hunter Valentine Set May Release
. The band, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Kiyomi McCloskey, bassist Adrienne Lloyd and drummer Laura Petracca previously released a self-titled EP in 2005 and a 2007 full-length The Impatient Romantic. The trio had been causing quite a stir with constant touring in the U.S. and Canada (often with their good friends The Cliks) and the summer release of the their super fan-friendly live DVD, We're Here To Recruit You. Eventually they could no longer be ignored and were targeted by a legendary New York City-based indie label. "When I first saw Kiyomi on stage I felt a star presence I had not felt since first meeting Queen Latifah." said Tommy Boy's Founder and CEO Tom Silverman. "You gotta wear your heart on your sleeve for your music to be honest," declares Kiyomi McCloskey. "We believe in making honest music and showcasing it. I want to be able to go onstage and play a song I believe in the same way we'd play it alone. It has to have the same emotion behind it." Such sentiments are the epitome of Lessons From the Late Night, another rugged blast of the band's congenital DIY ethics drawing on influences such as Tegan & Sara and vintage Joan Jett. The new tunes clearly display an even more raw and confident Hunter Valentine. Hunter Valentine is set to shoot a video for the lead single "Stalker" in Los Angeles on March 7th with director Taylor Cohen, who won the mtvU Woodie Award for Matt & Kim's "Lessons Learned" video. The band then kicks off a Canadian tour on April 7th and will soon announce an extensive slate of U.S. dates in support of Lessons From The Late Night.
