Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Paul O'Keeffe from Intervurt tells us about two more songs from their new album, "Union." Today Paul checks in with the story behind "Translucent," and "Meria":

Translucent: The he first song that we got to do with Mark Plati & Tom McKay. The idea for the lyric had been around for a while and it's just a pure break up song with an ugly twist. It's about how being intoxicated by someone, even without the presence of Love can be completely maddening. But then it kinda all boils down to being a great driving song. It was a strong contender for the first single, but at the last second it was decided that we'd lead with Union Square with Translucent as the follow up.

Merla: Probably the first song written for the Album, and a crowd favourite that always closes an Intervurt live set. The Album recording is pretty true to the live version and is all about that bass line. The title came from a story of a girl called Merla from Estonia that Oliver went to School with. But generally the song is about madness and every musical part reflects that really well. We actually broke into a derelict mental hospital to film the video and some of the footage was taken off us when we were caught by security, but we managed to hide most of the good stuff in our pants and got away. Visually it fits the mood of the song perfectly. The quote that we sound like "U2 being ravaged by a rabid dog" is probably alluding to this track, and sometimes performing it live can get a bit crazy as well.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the songs, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
