Ted Nugent Receives Smokey Bear Award

. (hennemusic) Waco, Texas TV station KWTX.com reports the Texas Forest Service has presented the prestigious Smokey Bear award to transplanted Waco-area rocker Ted Nugent, one of only five awarded nationally this year.

The award, presented at Nugent's Spirit Wild Ranch near Crawford, is reserved for those who provide outstanding service with significant impact in wildfire prevention.

Nugent, who has sold more than 30 million records during his career, is a staunch advocate for conservation efforts and has donated time and talent to create public service announcements on both fire prevention and hunting safety, the forest service said. more on this story
