Read on: 'Elvis Week' kicks off in Memphis today, commemorating the life and the death of rock and roll icon Elvis Presley and remembering his immesurable influence on popular music. The King died on August 16, 1977 and had he lived would have been 75 years old this year.

A true cultural icon and rock music original Elvis burst on the scene in the '50s, shocking the nation with his, (for the times) outrageous singing and dancing but quickly became its most beloved superstar.
