. Gregg Allman, who underwent a liver transplant on June 23, issued an accompanying statement, saying: "I'm ready. I've been itching to play since I got the operation and am glad to be back. Can't thank everyone enough for their help and support." Speaking to Billboard.com, guitarist Warren Haynes indicated he's cautiously optimistic about The Allman Brothers Band's long-term future. "I know [Allman] personally feels like he's got a new lease on life. He's healing up and feeling better. Depending on the day you talk to him, he's already talking about getting back on the road. I think he has a lot of things that he wants to pursue himself, with his own band and projects and stuff. And even before this situation, the band was looking forward to winding down the schedule a little bit. So we'll see." - more on this story Preview and Purchase Allman Brothers CDs |
