Singled Out: Language Room's In Lines
. We get used to having certain things and living our lives in certain ways and it becomes very hard to break those ways of thinking. So much so, in fact, that we become afraid of the things we don't understand and fight against them... even if those things are good for us. I wrote 'In Lines' to try and understand why we create heroes in this world and then, more often than not, look for reasons to tear them down when they show signs of weakness or fallibility, inevitable human traits. Actually, I never intended for it to be on the album but when I brought the song to the band it took on a new life. Scott wrote the verse guitar line within seconds of Caleb playing his beat idea and it all just stuck. "So we'll tear you apart like a star and we'll cradle the pieces we know we'll never be a part of. All that we ask is you keep in line." I think that we take only what we need from those who are able to do things we wish we could. The rest of them is the human part, the breakable part many don't want to see but that makes our heroes all the more amazing. We wanted to write a song that points a direction and lets the listener develop their own personal meaning. A song that offers a question without an answer. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself, watch the video and learn more about the album - right here! Preview and Purchase Language Room CDs |
