Remix Laurie Anderson
. Sourcing a remix from Indaba Music's worldwide community is in keeping with Anderson's creative process for Homeland, as the artist developed many of the songs-including "Only an Expert"- in public and on the road, constantly improvising new elements over the course of numerous versions. Rather than hiring a producer to remix the song, Anderson will leave it to fans and fellow musicians on Indaba Music-one of whom will have their remix included on the iTunes release of Homeland. Runners-Up (2) Homeland is Anderson's first studio album in ten years. She produced the album with Lou Reed and Roma Baran, and engineered it with Pat Dillett, Mario McNulty and Marc Urselli. The music is instantly recognizable as Anderson's, though it draws on a broad scope of styles: she sings throughout and plays newly developed sounds on violin, as well as contributing keyboards and percussion. Her vocals are often mediated by the vocal filter she long ago invented to perform her signature "audio drag," this time voicing Fenway Bergamot, the male alter-ego who appears on the album's cover and narrates the song "Another Day in America."
