Yes he's only 18, but he began performing at age nine, and entered a recording booth a year later. Along the way, an independent album Jaicko �then a rapper� cut in his native Barbados sold 6,000 copies, a massive accomplishment considering the island's total population is less than that of Pittsburgh. Off the stage, Jaicko has kept equally busy this summer. He took time out to perform at the 2009 US Open Arthur Ashe Kids' Day and several meaningful performances at America's Camp events. America's Camp is a fun, high-quality, one-week sleepaway camp for children who lost a parent or sibling as a result of the attacks on September 11th, and for children or siblings of firefighters and law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty.
