The album will also be mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me) at The Basement Recording in Winston-Salem, NC. Also unique to this recording is plans to record, mix and master the entire album in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound. The band stated "to our knowledge this is the first time this process has been applied to a death metal record."
While the band's first release I, Colossus (2008) was a concept album about a man made monster on a rampage, The City will also have a story more global in scale dealing with a city in post world war 3 North America.
The band also commented on changes in the music by stating "the material on this album is more derivative of our older death/prog metal influences, like Cannibal Corpse and Cynic. Expect more bass and drum work, as the rhythm section of ADBOK has gotten a lot tighter over the past year due to immense training. The vocals from new member Klint Monroe will be more mature and developed than our previous release. Also, new guitarist Jared Bivens brings a polished, heavy riffing style that "I, Colossus" lacked. We're all maturing and learning constantly. Having entered the music industry at ages 17-20, we feel that we're this next effort will produce a more refined sound that is much closer to our original ideas at the time of the band's inception."
The band has also announced that they have left Rise Records and are in the process of securing a new label for The City.
