"Much as Portland's acoustic community shies away from the digitized crowd, those peculiar obsessions borne from bedroom strumming or programming aren't so terribly different," says Portland, Oregons alternative weekly on local indie-rocker Leigh Marble and his new album, "Twister".
Portlands other alternative weekly, The Mercury, said, "Heavy doses of dub permeate the mix, with Marble's wavering vocals drowning spookily in and out of balance," of Marbles "Twister".
Featuring "Salt In the Wound", "On Your Way", "Strip the Bed", "Fast & Loose", "Lucky Bastards", and "Gave It All" from "Red Tornado", "Twister" brings both Northwest and international mixing engineers together: Urbex, Mission Creep, Teledubgnosis, and Leigh Marbles studio alias, Dr. Marble.
The track listing:
1. Salt In The Wound - (Alabaster Variation) - Urbex
2. On Your Way - (Math Lab Remix) - Dr. Marble
3. Strip The Bed - (One Eyed Mix) - Mission Creep
4. Fast & Loose - (live bootleg 1966) - Mission Creep
5. Lucky Bastards - (King County Jail Dub) - Teledubgnosis
6. Gave It All - (Chamber Dub Remix) - Dr. Marble
"I'd like 'Twister' to alter people's perception of Leigh Marble the musician. I want to break out the pigeonhole of singer/songwriter solo artist playing acoustic guitar. For the 'solo artists' I like, when you see a show or listen to an album, there's actually some kind of band, or some interesting sonic stuff happening with the production."
The result is an EP comprised of music ranging from Downtempo dub, hip-hop, IDM, even garage rock, genres that have zero to do with a solo performer with an acoustic guitar.
