Front man Noyan Hilmi sends this message to his fans: "After five years and hundreds of performances, it has come time to play our final show as Five Blank Pages. Since 2003, we've worked very hard and done so much. Our lives are now moving on to place other priorities ahead of the band. It was only a matter of time until the scales would tip, thereby putting Five Blank Pages behind us. It would only feel right to signal the end of the band with a celebration of what we've accomplished, who we've had the pleasure of working with, and the music we've created. We want you to join us for the last Five Blank Pages show. We've worked hard to make it as special as possible and for everyone to be able to attend."
Before they bid farewell, Five Blank Pages offer us a new four song EP, Young Glow, sewn together with their honest and soothing indie rock most of the GTA has become so fond of. Presenting some of their most developed and mature songs to date, Young Glow will leave fans with a heartfelt gift, a peaceful ending. The EP will be released at the show on May 23rd and available in hand-numbered limited edition packaging. The EP will be available digitally through the band's website and later this year on iTunes and other digital retailers.
The band, made up of Hilmi, wife Pinar Ozyetis, and new drummer Michael Reles, will be joined by good friends on this sure-to-be memorable night. During their set, ex-bassist Rajiv Thavanathan, Rob Shortill (from This is Picture), and Shawn Jurek (of The Primordials) will all join them on stage, in addition to ex-drummer Chelen Hilmi who will be singing harmonies and help out on drums for a few songs. Five Blank Pages will also invite out a trumpet player, trombonist, cellist, and violinist to make the most of their orchestral pop blends. Thavanathan's new entity, Oh No Forest Fires, will support Five Blank Pages and Toronto's Boys Say No will open the night.
