Neal McCoy's Celebration of Freedom

.
(PR) Mark your calendars and plan on attending the inaugural Celebration of Freedom: promoting patriotism and honoring those who have made freedom possible with Neal McCoy and General Tommy Franks in Hobart, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 23, 2009.

Neal McCoy did not hesitate but rather jumped at the opportunity when asked by General Tommy Franks to provide entertainment for the Grand Opening of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum.

"General Franks is a class act! If he wants me to be involved with him in anything, I'm going to do what it takes to make that happen. I've been lucky enough to be around him a lot, not just here at home, but in the Middle East, and have seen the respect he receives, from not just the soldiers, but from anyone who has been lucky enough to cross paths with him. I love what he stands for, and I was so excited when he and Colonel Hayes asked me to join them in the opening of his Museum and Institute," boasted Neal.

Whether he's delivering a stirring version of "America the Beautiful" in front of 65,000 standing, cheering fans in Texas Stadium or entertaining for the troops both domestic and overseas, including his performances for 13 USO tours, Neal's determination to leverage his celebrity status to benefit worthy causes has always been of great importance.

"It means the world," McCoy says "My mother was born in the Philippines, and growing up she made me understand and respect what it meant to live in the USA."

While many of Neal McCoy's honorable military contributions are not as widely known as some of his career accomplishments, recognition is not what McCoy's after. Instead, Neal McCoy views events such as General Franks' as an opportune time to promote his patriotism, share in honoring our military, and remember loved ones who have been lost.

Throughout this Memorial Weekend celebration, special activities in addition to Neal McCoy's concert include the grand opening of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, a Military Salute Parade featuring special floats dedicated to veterans, and a Patriot Spotlight Panel sharing stories of patriotism followed by a tribute honoring all present military. Other events include the 41st annual Arts on the Square, a fishing, skeet and softball tournaments, motorcycle rally, fly-in, quilt show, carnival and much more food, fun and entertainment.
