Originally formed in 1983, "Polaris" is Helsinki-based Stratovarius' first studio album in four years, featuring their trademark blend of powerful melodies and sophisticated arrangement combating 11 tracks fuelled with energy, cutting edge power metal musicianship and a newfound positive outlook. Recorded during fall 2008 at Hstholmen and 5by5 studios, Helsinki, Finland, the album was mixed by studio engineer, Mikko Karmila, resulting in a melodic, powerful, fresh, tight, and technically elaborate new collaboration.
"Polaris is a positive, powerful album that Stratovarius fans all over the world are certain to take to their hearts," reflects vocalist Timo Kotipelto.
The band will support the release of the new album with live shows around the globe, UK dates include: Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Hall (May 15th), Nottingham's Rescue Rooms (May 16th), Glasgow's Cathouse (May 17th), London's Islington academy (May 18th) and Manchester's Jilly's Rockworld (May 19th).
