Members of rock groups Van Halen, Rush, Guns 'N Roses and Velvet Revolver were among the contributors to a benefit auction designed to help Corrales and his family raise funds to cover expenses not covered by Corales' medical insurance.

Corrales was a 24-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He began his law-enforcement career with the Los Angeles County Marshall's Department and became a sheriff's deputy when the Marshall's Department was merged with the Sheriff's Department in 1994.
