(PR) Following the appearance of their song "I Know Who You Could Be" in the CBS show "Moonlight", Butcher Boy's debut album, "Profit In Your Poetry", receives a domestic American release on October 7. It will be distributed by Red Eye Distribution.

Until now, "Profit In Your Poetry", which was released in the UK in April 2007, has only been available in the US on import, a cult item for fans of Scottish orchestral indie pop. One such fan was "Moonlight" scriptwriter Erin Maher, who penned a scene of the vampire drama with "I Know Who You Will Be" in mind, and then pushed for the scene to be cut precisely to the song rather than the other way around.

After the "Moonlight" episode aired on May 2, 2008, interest in the Glasgow septet skyrocketed, with thousands of people visiting Butcher Boy's My Space, where "I Know Who You Could Be" was made available as a free download. On the strength of this interest, Red Eye then approached the group about an American release.

"Profit In Your Poetry" received rave reviews when it was released in the UK, with critics comparing the band to Tindersticks, Felt and Love. "Theirs is a literate, bohemian music nourished by the darker strains of Sixties chart pop, and distinguished by [singer John Blain] Hunt's poise and nicely turned songs," decided Mail On Sunday. "The shadow of the Smiths looms largest over Butcher Boy, with the tremulous I Could Be in Love With Anyone echoing the perfect despair of Morrissey heartaches such as Reel Around the Fountain," agreed The Guardian. "It's an album of immense subtlety and depth, the kind of record you can listen to fifty times and still discover hidden treasures on that fifty first spin," declared Drowned In Sound.
