We had spoke to Chip on Tuesday who gave us the information about the group. However, some of that information was premature including the inclusion of Eric Dover and the band's first gig. We were told yesterday that the first gig will most likely happen sometime before the end of the year. And at this point it doesn't look like Eric Dover is going to take part.
It's rock n' roll and GNR related so anything can change at the drop of a hat. It is a little reminiscent of the early days of Velvet Revolver when it looked like Josh Todd would front that band. Once the identity of the mystery frontman of this new group is revealed we will let you know. And we will keep you posted on that first gig as well.
Eric Dover did release a statement about his lack of participation in this group as well as updated fans on his immediate plans. According to the statement Dover is scheduled to enter the studio next week to begin recording a followup to "Sextus: Stranger Than Fiction" with his Sextus band mates Todd Kerns, Ron Dziubla, Mitchell Sigman, Joe Karnes, and Eric Skodis.
As for Guns of Destruction, Dover explained, "Trac[ii Guns] had called me to ask about doing a few cover gigs, but I'm not joining a Supergroup. They're all great guys, but Sextus is my focus."
The new Sextus album is tentatively titled "Con-Artists Worldwide" and will be released on Dramapants Records. Dover is also currently producing a record by Dramapants recording artist "Moebius Fox". The album title may be a jab at concert promotion company Artists Worldwide who count Adler's Appetite, L.A. Guns and Enuff Z'nuff as clients. That is entirely a wild guess on our part, so take it would a pound of salt. We won't make any guesses at the Dramapants thing.
