New York: I was in Italy working/recording with Dustin O'Halloran and he started playing the most beautiful guitar picking.... I don't know where the words & melody came from, they seemed to drop from the sky - except for the chorus because I really did have the dream that I describe in the lyrics. It was one of those easy songs that just sort of wrote itself. We decided to record instantly to not loose the moment. We managed to get down the guitar, a rough vocal and some piano. Then we just sort of forgot about the song for a while.
When I got into the studio with Zac [Rae] to work on my solo record, I played it for him and he loved it. We redid the vocals with the Cole's ribbon mic that I used for all the songs on the record & Dustin came in and replayed the piano part. One of the most special parts of this song is Ondioline that Zac played. He had just acquired this very rare & old keyboard instrument which is somewhat like the Ondes Martinot (can be heard in some of Radiohead's music). It wasn't working properly and kept shutting off without warning. It was also not in tune with itself which made it a challenge to play. Zac managed to get working long enough to record some beautiful parts that sound kind of like strange strings. Just after the part was recorded, the thing died... Hopefully it will get working again one of these days, but meanwhile, it's beautiful tone remains forever in this song. [*Marco Morandi is currently working on video for this song using some of Sara Lov's drawings and stop motion.]
