The special was taped at Camp Pendleton in conjunction with shows in Iraq and Ft. Benning, Georgia. The three shows combined will form "America United: In Support of our Troops," which will air as a two-hour primetime special on NBC from 7-9 pm on Sunday, June 1st

Moore is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame (for "Soul Man") and a Grammy Award and a multi-Gold and Platinum record award winning recording artist. Moore also has achieved a distinguished 25 year career as a solo artist. He also paired with the late Conway Twitty to record the classic "Rainy Night In Georgia" for the classic Rhythm, Country and Blues Album, appeared as The Reverend Morris in Blues Brothers 2000 playing opposite James Brown's character, a "Swanky Mode" in Tapeheads and was featured prominently in the documentary "Only The Strong Survive".
