Formed in late 2005, The Nashville-based quartet Paper Rival has slowly gained recognition across the country while touring with such like-minded artists as Manchester Orchestra and Circa Survive. July 2007 saw the release of the band's self-titled debut EP, which including a bracing cover of Bruce Cockburn's "Pacing the Cage." In December, Paper Rival began unveiling new songs from "Dialog" with a special acoustic in-studio performance at Q101, Chicago's #1 alternative rock station.
Paper Rival has already drawn national attention for its evocative and expansive take on classic rock, with Alternative Press declaring it to be one of the "100 Bands You Need To Know" in its recent annual round-up. In December 2007, Paper Rival was named Spin.com's "Artist of the Day," which praised the band for its "cascading, dreamy guitar pop," and "lush tunes that don't fall into the usual trappings of overacted melodrama." - Grab a preview and tour dates
