The website offers more than one million Artist Profiles, and is powered by an innovative new media player that supports high-definition full-screen video playback with no buffering and DVD-like controls, a multimedia search engine and fan-centric community features.
"Until now, watching HD or even broadcast quality music videos on the web has been nearly impossible. Today we're announcing a major step forward in the way that fans can connect with the high quality content and artists that matter most to them. We're focused on building a unique experience for fans - a place where they can meet and interact with each other, and where they can enjoy, discover and share premium quality video content," said Jeff Somers, CEO of PluggedIn.
PluggedIn is also announcing today a strategic partnership with leading entertainment and artist management company, Overbrook Entertainment. Overbrook - whose principals are world famous actor and musician Will Smith, and entertainment industry veterans James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz - is investing both its capital and resources into PluggedIn's groundbreaking product and consumer experience.
"The experience that the PluggedIn team has created is truly world-class," said Guy Primus, Head of Interactive Media at Overbrook. "They've reshaped the way people will enjoy music online by combining high-definition video with personalization, social networking and e-commerce tools. The fact that they've built all of this to be replicated across entertainment categories is even more remarkable, and we look forward to working with them on a variety of initiatives."
PluggedIn has initially licensed over 10,000 music videos and live concerts from major music companies such as EMI Music, the world's leading independent music company, Sony BMG, and an influential group of other major and independent music labels.
