Released in 2003, OHIO was awarded five out of five stars by Paste magazine and chosen as the #1 album of the year by WNKU listeners. Pop Matters and others called OHIO a masterpiece, and All Music Guide described it as "a cry from the ravaged heartland, and necessary, ambitious pop music." The album received BBC airplay and showed up on various top ten lists around the world.
A few years after the release of OHIO, a panel of critics, musicians and journalists voted Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist to Paste magazine's list of 100 Best Living Songwriters.
"OHIO celebrated the music that Karin and I grew up with," says Linford. "It's a Midwestern melting pot of rock 'n' roll, gospel, old country and western, and R&B. It marked a little bit of a creative revival for Karin and I, so it's a special record for us."
"We've never tried anything like this before," adds singer Karin Bergquist. "We're going to take a break from our Trumpet Child Tour to put together this evening of music, treat OHIO as a complete composition and perform all 21 songs from the first note to the last. Sounds appropriate to welcome a beautiful new 4000 seat Ohio music venue into existence."
