Alter Bridge recruited producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Incubus, Chevelle, Three Days Grace). The recording process began in Nashville in February 2007. With no label to back the band they put up their own money to make the album they wanted and needed to make.

The first single off Blackbird, "Rise Today" asks the personal question: Could this world be a better place? With a true collaboration between the former members of Creed and Myles Kennedy, Alter Bridge is ready to take their fans on an emotional journey that shows what combined efforts of the whole band can do.
