Kicking off the holiday festivities prior to the tour will be the band's appearance at the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival in Chicago on November 17th. Joining KT Tunstall, Corbin Bleu and others, Sister Hazel will be performing on the The Harris Stage at Pioneer Court along Michigan Avenue in the afternoon (a 5-7 song rock set). The band is also slated to grace the WTMX-FM float in the parade, upon which they will perform acoustically. The parade is part of the evening festivities, during which Mickey Mouse and his pals from the Walt Disney World Resort will illuminate over one million lights on 200 trees along The Magnificent Mile. The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is the first official nationwide event celebrating the holiday season and is held along North Michigan Avenue between Oak Street and the Chicago River. This year is the first time this magical event will shine on a national stage through syndicated national television broadcasts. The procession and fireworks will air in over 40 percent of the country between November 18th and December 25th.
"Santa's Playlist" was released on September 25th, and it was recorded in response to countless requests from fans. The album incorporates classics and standards remade in their own unique way, obscure Christmas tunes, and several of the band's originals. "Each of us got to bring in three songs and produce them," explains guitarist Ryan Newell. "Being in a band with five equal voices, it was a great experience to see each one of us take turns in the producer seat," adds vocalist/guitarist Drew Copeland.
