They Shoot Horses Don't They? Listening Party

.
(PR) They Shoot Horses Don't They? is back with its trademarked post-punk/post-circus sound. Coming off the success of 2006's Boo Hoo Hoo Boo, the Vancouver 8-piece gives us Pick Up Sticks, an album full of oompa horns and whirling, driving guitars all wrapped up under the peculiar charm of the band's lyrics. The music avoids any true genre definition, remaining true to its muddled, distinct carnivalesque pop that could've come from a not-so far off circus planet or from the mangled cabaret scene of the 1940s. Not to be taken as a mere sideshow, the musical talent here offers much of a balance between desperation and vigor. With much likeness to acts such as Captain Beefheart and Sun Ra, They Shoot Horses Don't They? is the perfect shot in the arm for anyone who has a skewed vision of living today.[see full story for a full album stream] - Click here for the Full Story
