Inspiration for this record is multi-faceted, from icons in music and Victorian Science Fiction. Hayes has managed to craft an album of intricate narratives and personal confessions that simultaneously document his arrival at peace within himself. Hayes built these musical journeys with a technological muse from the past, found in that most modern of marketplaces, eBay. Hayes scored the vintage 1983 Fairlight CMI Synthesizer, which was the clunky synth that contributed beautiful unique sounds to the pivotal Kate Bush recording The Hounds of Love. This device whirled Darren into a time of not only Victorian inspiration but also to the time of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Its not a concept record, but there is a definite idea that it begins with a loss of consciousness and gives over to the notion that we are going to go deep into the psyche, says Hayes.
