Described by the LOS ANGELES TIMES as "layering angular guitar riff*ge onto British underpinnings with promising results," Gran Ronde has been a staple in L.A.'s burgeoning eastside music scene since forming in 2004 and this EP marks the band's first official release. "This record has definitely been a long time coming and we couldn't be happier to share it with everyone," explains singer/guitarist Chris Pearson.
Employing the help of master mixer/producer Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon) and the mixing assistance of James Bairian (Giant Drag, Dirty Little Secret), the recordings aptly capture the intensity of the foursome's live show while adding a slick polish.
ON AND ON launches with the title track's chiming guitars and pulsing drums while "Retrace" slows the tempo with a loping bassline and Pearson's unsettling baritone. "River," harks back to Britain circa 1979 with its frenzied guitars and impassioned howl. This past fall "Retrace," along with two tracks from the forthcoming LP, were featured on MTV's highest-rated program "The Hills."
