David Mahler, 43, is accused of murdering Kirstin "Chrissie" Franya Baldwin, 38, and dumping her body in a ditch near Barstow where it was found 20 days later. He is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly threatening Vie, real name Donald Van Develde.

Vie testified that he was at his landlords apartment before the murder when an angry Mahler pulled out a gun. "He was pointing it around, clicking it everywhere," Vie said. "He clicked it at me, he clicked it at her."
