Our response: Rory, we do not know what lies you are taking about. If you are talking about the apparent Michael Anthony snubs then sadly it is the truth. We have no dog in that race but last weekend a reader brought it to our attention that Anthony's songwriting credit was removed from the song "Panama" in a new movie soundtrack. We investigated and discovered that his credits were removed from the entire 1984 album according to ASCAP. Michael came out later in the week and took the highroad, wishing his replacement luck and asking fans to give him a chance. So we'll let Michael have the last word on that matter and wish the band the best of luck on the upcoming tour and hope they show some emo kids how it's really done!
[Trust but Verify] Normally we ignore a few angry emails as that is to be expected, but we received over 100 complaints about last week's Atreyu special. We won't reprint the emails but we do want to clarify that unlike some publications out there we DO NOT SELL editorial features, reviews etc. In fact, you will see plenty of ads across the web for their new album but their people did not include us in that side of things and we did not receive one cent to promote their new album or to run the special. The biggest complaint was that the "song stories" weren't really song stories at all but were rather vague statements about how "rad" the songs were and were a waste of time that did not inspire anyone to check out the CD. We apologize for this as we agreed to run the special before we received the submissions from the band because we felt it would be something our readers would enjoy and we stood by our commitment to run the special. Maybe they didn't understand the concept of the special? Who knows? But from now on if the band doesn't deliver the goods we won't publish the special. Sorry some of you were disappointed in the special, we'll do our best to make sure the future specials live up to the idea of that series. Check out this week's special with Collective Soul and you'll see things are back to how they should be!
