"We want to start writing new songs and we are really excited about the direction we have planned," the band said in a statement at the time. "So we're going into the studio instead of playing these few dates. We hope that our fans will forgive us for the cancellation; in the end, this will make for an even better live show when we come back."
Now the band has gone further to explain the sudden cancellation: "Canceling the tour was not an easy decision, not something we wanted to do, and not something that we take lightly," the band said according to Punkbands. "We didn't cancel our first European tour last winter even when Travis was playing every single show with a broken arm, and we didn't cancel the next european tour after Travis was ordered home by his doctors. Touring and playing shows is the foundation of +44. Sorry to anyone who had tickets to the shows this month. We were absolutely stoked to be headed over for a third tour, but this time it just wasn't possible."
