Capitol Music Group and Motionbox called on fans to upload video of themselves singing Placebo's new single, "Running Up That Hill," from their critically-acclaimed new album, Meds. The promotion, which ran from March 30th-April 17th, drew a frenzy of activity from fans world-wide, as over 1,000 fans formed a group on Motionbox and quickly posted over 1,000 videos. Within the first three days of the promotion, the song was downloaded 5,000 times.
The next phase of the promotion will be the world premiere of the video, airing on May 16th on MySpace and Motionbox. The video, along with all of the original fan video submitted, will also be available on Motionbox
