Shot in Hi-Definition amidst a stage strikingly adorned with hundreds of electric candles, the 19-song celebration of free-spirited rock 'n roll clocks in at two-and-a-half-hours. The DVD features originals from the band's six studio albums (including "Jealous Again," "Wiser Time," "Remedy," "Soul Singing," acoustic version of "She Talks To Angels"), special covers that illuminate their rich musical heritage (Matthew Moore's Joe Cocker tune "Space Captain," Robbie Robertson's The Band song "The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down") and the amorica b-side "Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz." In addition, the DVD includes behind-the-scenes footage of the band backstage and in the streets and hills of San Francisco.
2005 marked a hugely successful year for The Black Crowes, who reunited and re-connected with their loyal fans, performing what some called "the best shows of their career." While they reached their peak by headlining their New Year's Eve show at Madison Square Garden, the band--Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien (bass) and Steve Gorman (drums)--also played seven sold-out shows at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, performed five-nights at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and were headliners at three of the most prestigious festivals in America (New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits Festival). Summing up the allure of THE Black Crowes' concert experience, Mikael Wood of The Village Voice (12/28/05) said the band "remain one of rock's best live acts, as hard-grooving as during their heyday and caked with an extra layer of rambling-man soulfulness."
Looking ahead, The Black Crowes--revered for wide-ranging set lists that alternate every night--have started to announce U.S. and overseas concerts for 2006, beginning with March 10 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
