The sad news came from his former band's Myspace page where they wrote: "We are shocked and saddened to learn that our friend, former band-mate and brother Duane Roland has passed away.
"Duane was an original member of Molly Hatchet and he gave 15 years of his life in devotion to the band.
"We will miss you Duane. Give Danny a hug from all of us in the Molly Hatchet family.
"Our deepest condolences to Duane's family, friends, band-mates and fans. Prayers to all."
