Singer-bassist Geddy Lee, drummer Neil Peart and Lifeson broke through in the U.S. with 1976's 2112 and double live All The World's A Stage. A Farewell To Kings (1977) and Hemispheres (1978) led to 1980's Permanent Waves and superstar status. 1981's Moving Pictures became the band's best-selling album and one of heavy rock's greatest.
Later that year, the band issued the double LP ExitStage Left. The 60-minute gold-certified homevideo of the same name, filmed March 27, 1981 at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, includes such Rush classics as "Limelight," "Tom Sawyer," "The Trees," "Xanadu," "Red Barchetta," "Freewill," "Closer To The Heart" and "YYZ."
The 70-minute-plus Grace Under Pressure, released 1985, was shot at Maple Leaf Gardens in Rush's hometown of Toronto. Along with Rush standards such as "The Spirit Of Radio" and "New World Man" are "The Enemy Within," "Distant Early Warning," "Red Sector A," anti-censorship anthem "Witch Hunt" and a finale of "Vital Signs"/"Finding My Way"/"In the Mood."
A Show Of Hands arrived in 1991 and also went gold. The 90-minute video of a 1988 concert in Birmingham, England nearly duplicates the songs on the same-named live album. Perennial favorites were joined by newer songs such as "Marathon," "Turn The Page," "Manhattan Project" and "Force Ten," plus an encore medley of "2112"/"La Villa Strangiato"/"In The Mood."
By replaying the band's first concert homevideos, Rush Replay x 3 completes the picture of an extraordinary band.
