Shearer has hosted his nationally syndicated public radio show for more than 20 years. Now, he takes Le Show on the road to Austin for its first performance in front of a live audience. The format will be typical of what listeners around the world hear every week, with Shearer's trademark commentary on headline news and current events, live musical performances and celebrity interviews. Among his featured guests is singer/pianist Judith Owen who is renowned for her witty, theatrical flair and emotionally charged music; Grammy-winner Lyle Lovett, and genre-defying multi-instrumentalist Henry Butler. Additional guests will be announced at a later date. The production will be recorded and edited for its regular broadcast on Sunday, March 20.
Shearer and Owen launched Courgette Records (which is British for zucchini - a nod to the infamous airport scene from This Is Spinal Tap) with Owen's manager, Bambi Mo in September 2005. Distributed by Warner Music Group's Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), the label's first release was Owen's CD, "Lost And Found". Coming March 21 is Shearer's DVD "Now You See It", highlighting his most memorable television moments from Saturday Night Live and HBO, and CD "Dropping Anchors", a musical ode to news anchors Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Ted Koppel and Aaron Brown.
