The "Highway Companion Big Weekend," which borrows its name from Petty's most recent album, Highway Companion, will kick off Friday, December 15 at 12 midnight ET on XM LIVE (XM 200) and will feature rare recordings and and previously unreleased live tracks from the Heartbreaker's archives along with the first 44 episodes of his popular XM show. Petty's free-form playlist for "Buried Treasure" features cuts by artists from Jimi Hendrix to Carl Perkins, the White Stripes to Little Richard, Elmore James to the Beatles, Bob Dylan to Jerry Lee Lewis.
"Tom Petty's Buried Treasure" debuted on XM in December 2004. The hour-long, critically-acclaimed weekly radio show blends landmark songs, offbeat cuts and live-in-concert classics recorded by legendary artists with Petty providing informed and passionate commentary on his first love - the music. New episodes of "Tom Petty's Buried Treasure" air Mondays at 10 a.m. ET on Deep Tracks (XM 40), with encore broadcasts airing throughout the week.
