(PR) On Wednesday, December 20th, the TEENAGE PRAYERS will get in the Christmas Spirit, performing a fundraiser show for Brooklyn high school students at the Mercury Lounge.
The benefit, aimed at buying a virtual recording studio for the students of Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, will also feature performances by area bands HEAP and USED TO BE WOMEN . "Every year the Prayers do a Christmas show," said band founder Tim Adams, "but this year we thought we should do something special for someone, and our first thought was for the students and faculty at BCAM."
The Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School (BCAM) opened its doors to Bed Stuy high schoolers last September with a focus on "academic excellence, artistic freedom, individual responsibility, and mutual respect". With a student body over 100 strong, their maiden voyage as an institution is off to a strong start. But they could still use some help. The event will take place at the Mercury Lounge, 217 E. Houston Street in New York City with Heap leading off the benefit at 8:30pm, Used to Be Women at 9:30pm and the Teenage Prayers at 10:30pm. Tickets will be $8 with band proceeds going toward BCAM.
