The typical live music aficionado will tell you that Hip Hop performances simply don't translate well all that often. Only a select number of acts today are transcending expectations and delivering a party like this. On 4/20/06, Blackalicious and around 1200 fiends from the Pacific Northwest piled into Seattle's heralded Showbox Theater to capture some boombastic moments in time. On this, their first ever DVD, Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel alongside their incomparable supporting cast, delivered a legendary performance sure to rank high in the annals of Hip Hop. Joining them as a part of this 45-day tour was Lateef (Latyrx/Quannum Projects), Pigeon John (Quannum), LifeSavas (Quannum), and Fat Lip (the Pharcyde). The show kicked off with their signature track "Alphabet Aerobics" and concluded with an all-out mic attack featuring Quannum family all stars and beyond (Pigeon John, Lateef, LifeSavas, Fatlip, Omni). The energy that was in that smoke-filled room that night in Seattle was mind-blowing and the way it translates on this DVD from the HDV shoot and superb pro-audio mix will surely please existing Blackalicious fans and likely create just as many brand new ones.
