Beatles Shea Stadium Anniversary

08/16/06
.
(PR) As any good Beatles fan would know, August 23 marks the anniversary of the "fab four" performing at New York's Shea Stadium, when they made history while appearing for their last NYC concert. Usually reserved for baseball games, the ballpark hosted a phenomenon that night: the "mop tops from Liverpool" caused mass hysteria when tens of thousands of screaming devotees turned out to see their heroes in concert.

Now it's 2006 and The Beatles are no more. But 1964:THE TRIBUTE have been given the honor of commemorating this momentous event by performing live at Shea Stadium on the exact same date. Once again, history will be made. On Wednesday, August 23,1964:THE TRIBUTE will whip the crowd into a frenzy when they hit the stage as the ballpark hosts The Battle Of Division Leaders (the New York Mets against The St. Louis Cardinals). Not only will 1964:THE TRIBUTE perform prior to the start of the game, they will also entertain between innings. The members of 1964:THE TRIBUTE are all exceptionally talented musicians who take on the additional mantle of actors, stepping into the characters of The Beatles to recreate an actual Beatles concert with the sounds, sights and atmosphere as it might have been in the early to mid 1960s
