Straylight spent fall of last year headlining the Alternative Press tour in support of their self-titled debut, later helping The Get Up Kids say goodbye on their final tour. Critical praise and hard work paid off, as the album has sold over 225,000 albums in North America since its release in October of 2004. As the touring concluded, the band settled in at home during the summer of 2005 to work on the songs for the EP, eventually titled Prepare To Be Wrong, choosing Mike Sapone to help produce. Nolan explains, "We've worked with Mike on demo versions of our songs for years now and we were very excited to finally be producing a record with him. Since we were able to play a big part in the production of the songs on this EP we were much happier with the overall sound of everything than we were with our first record."
Greater creative control is just one thing that has changed since Straylight Run's first album, lyrical subject matter has also evolved. "We delved more into expressing personal feelings about what is going on in the world around us. Quite a few of the songs focus on America's obsession with violence and war and more specifically some focus on the war that is currently going on in Iraq", said Nolan. The album also includes With God On Our Side, a Bob Dylan song that has become a favorite at Straylight Run's shows. For those who found Straylight Run's first video for Existentialism On Prom Night, to be unforgettable, a new one is on the way. The band will film Hands In The Sky (Big Shot) before hitting the road - expect the unexpected from this forward-thinking band.
Straylight Run formed in May of 2003. The band made the unique decision to offer their demos to the public as free downloads, creating a huge buzz among fans and in the industry. Ultimately the songs were downloaded collectively over a million times - cementing a fan base that is as loyal as it is active.
