Not So Merry also contains a bonus dvd directed by Darren Doane (Deftones, Thursday) which includes in-studio performances, band interviews, a bonus jam and a photo gallery. The cover art of Not So Merry was created specifically for the band by legendary artist Alan Aldridge, who has created album covers for The Who and Cream, as well as numerous Beatles posters and books.
The self-proclaimed "quirky pop music" of Agent Sparks is the product of four musicians who all have a history in the music business but only came together as a group last summer. Front man Ben Einziger eased into his leading man role after being restricted to guitar in his last band in which he played with fellow Agent Spark (and half brother) Paul Fried. The male/female dual vocal stylings of Stephanie Eitel (vocals, keyboards) and Einziger (vocals, guitar) create a uniquely catchy sound backed by Fried on bass and George Purviance on drums. Agent Sparks' sound has been compared to everything from The Violent Femmes and The Pixies to The Go-Go's and X, but when asked to describe their own music, Fried states, "if someone needed to write the soundtrack to Weird Science 2, we would be a perfect match."
In other Agent Sparks news, Stephanie Eitel will be a guest performer on MTV's Hard Rock Live featuring Weezer airing on September 7th. Eitel is the background vocalist on the album version of the hit, "Beverly Hills" and was invited to join the band for the recording of the MTV special.
