The perjury stems from Kim's testimony where she told a federal grand jury that she had not seen her manager and bodyguard at the scene of a 2001 shootout outside of a rap radio station between her entourage and rival hip-hop group Capone-N-Noreaga. In that case, Kim testified her co-manager Damion Butler and her bodyguard Suif "Gutta" Jackson were not at the radio station at the time of the shootout. During this perjury trial the prosecutor presented security photos of Kim and Butler outside of the radio station together moments before the shootout and Butler is also shown opening a door for the rapper.
Both men plead guilty to gun charges. Jackson admitted firing a gun at least 20 times in the shootout and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Kim and her assistant each face up to 20 years in prison. Five years for each count. The sentencing has been set for June 24th.
