"This film series really reaches into the soul of what the indie film scene is all about," said Adam Bhala Lough, director of "Bomb The System." "Each film taps into a very important genre within the different underground scenes. I am excited to be touring with some of the industry's most talented, up-and-coming directors and artists, who are so passionate about bringing these films to the audience they were created for," Lough added.
Between July and September, Scion will be stationed in New York, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin and Miami premiering one of these innovative movies every week. The opening night of each movie will be marked by a premier event that will feature music from the area's best DJ's. After the film, attendees will have the chance to meet the filmmakers at a VIP reception, take part in a Q&A session with the producers/directors of the film, and enjoy complimentary beverages with the cities' film and progressive culture connoisseurs. After each premier event screening, the movie will screen a second time later that week.
"We are passionate about the opportunity to create a platform for emerging artists to launch their careers from as well as providing entertainment to the indie generation," said Jeri Yoshizu at Scion, one of Toyota's newest lines of vehicles.
Come join the nation's cutting-edge filmmakers and Scion for the cinematic event of the summer, Route 05: Scion Independent Film Series.

BOMB THE SYSTEM
In his feature film debut, director Adam Bhala Lough tells the story of Anthony "Blest" (Mark Webber), a talented street artist struggling to find his way in life and on the unforgiving streets of New York City. Bomb the System has traveled to over twenty film festivals world wide, won Best Feature at the SF Independent Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the Athens and Cinema Paradise Film Festivals. Bomb The System has earned Lough an Independent Spirit Award Nomination for 'Best First Feature And 'Best Director' at HBO's Urbanworld Film Festival. This visually exhilarating film was shot entirely on the streets of New York City and provides a candid and contradictory look at the life of a street artist. END OF THE CENTURY
In 1974, the New York City music scene was shocked into consciousness by the violently new and raw sound of a band of misfits from Queens called the Ramones. Playing in a seedy Bowery bar to a small group of fellow struggling musicians, the band struck a chord of disharmony that rocked the foundation of the mid-seventies music scene. This quartet of unlikely rock stars traveled across the country and around the world connecting with the disenfranchised everywhere, while sparking a movement that would resonate with two generations of outcasts across the globe. Although the band never reached the top of the Billboard charts, they managed to endure in the face of fleeting success and crushing interpersonal conflicts by maintaining a rigorous touring schedule for twenty-two years. Tracing the history of the band, from its unlikely origins, through its star-crossed career, bitter demise and the sad fates of Joey and Dee Dee, End of the Century is a vibrant, candid document of one of the most influential groups in the history of rock. www.scion.com/route/century_info.html
FREESTYLE: THE ART OF RHYME
Freestyle is experimental in its nature as an improvisational film: no showing of the program is ever the same experience, combining the best of independent art house cinema within the hip-hop mix tape format. The project features appearances by: Supernatural, Mos Def, Black Thought & ?uestlove of the Roots, Freestyle Fellowship, Lord Finesse, Cut Chemist, Craig G, Juice, Boots of the Coup, Medusa, Planet Asia, Sway, Crazy Legs, Jurasic-5, Wordsworth, Bobitto Garcia, and The Last Poets. FREESTYLE offers us a context in which to view living art as a social critique in story and rhyme that is designed to bring about a cathartic transformation of frustration into beauty. Following some of the best MC's ever to bless the mic, the film features legendary battles including those of the film's hero; Supernatural pitted against his arch nemesis Craig G providing the through line for the story. As these artists improvise poetry out of a mix of language, politics and culture that make up their lives, we discover revolutionary worlds where the English language is subverted and re-appropriated as a tool of economic and social empowerment. www.scion.com/route/freestyle_info.html
DIG!
DIG! follows the star-crossed friendship and bitter rivals Anton Newcombe, leader of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Courtney Taylor, head of The Dandy Warhols'. From the moment these talented underground musicians met, Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor quickly bonded over a mutual desire to not conform to the tastes of the recording industry. Yet the musicians' choices over how to express their creativity and originality in a profit-driven industry eventually put them at irreconcilable odds. Shot over seven years and culled from 1,500 hours of footage, DIG! is about both musicians' love and obsession, gigs and recordings, arrests and death threats, ups and downs, and their choice between art and industry. www.scion.com/route/dig_info.html
