U.S. Act Dominates Brit Awards

(antiMUSIC) A New York act walked away as the big winner at the Brit Awards earlier this week. New York's Scissor Sisters, a dance pop group, won three awards; International Breakthrough Act, Best International Group, and Best International Album for their self-titled debut. 

Two other American acts walked away with wins. Eminem won for Best International Male Solo Artist, and  Gwen Stefani took Best International Female Solo Artist honors.

The big UK native winner was Franz Ferdinand, who walking away with two awards (out of a possible five). They won Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. 

British Album Of The Year Award honors went to Keane for "Hopes and Fears," the pop-rockers also won for British Breakthrough Act.

Teen singer Joss Stone won Best British Female Artist honors as well as Best British Urban Act.  Rapper The Streets (real name Mike Skinner) was named Best British Male Act. And Muse walked away with the Best British Live Act award. 

Live Aid organizer Bob Geldolf received special award for Outstanding Contribution To Music.
